Uncertainty

I figure with some blogging happening on truth and certainty . I want to mention I think that the most certainty I have on anything is that we are in times of uncertainty.

Within uncertainty it is more important to identify direction rather than destination. Goals should be replaced by ethics, and transparency enables leadership and management to face uncertainty & complexity in an unknown future.

We must learn how to thrive and grow in uncertainty rather than trying to find certainty.

Agree disagree?

'Nothing' is the space for everything. Live with Negative Capacity
Oh and BTW I am very excited that Kim has decided to enter the world of Blogging

Goals replaced by ethics?

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Ethical people are always too certain. Always remember the irreducible rascality of huamity.

Sounds like something I heard in Philosophy class. You start only with what you know and that is that there are uncertain times. Then build upon that.
When you have too much certainty I think there is a problem. Uncertainty is a failsafe like a humans nerves. If you are not nervous when doing something like public speaking then you are not as sharp as you could be. Nerves keep you in check, so does uncertainty.

Good thought Dan.
Mark - is this topic spurred by a certain lesson or spoken thoughts? I think Dan's right. There needs to be uncertainty. I just imagine a world without it and it gets really boring. I think humans need uncertainty, fear and doubt in order to cope with life. I know when I got on one knee to propose to Debbie I was scared... um a lot... (or insert another term) and it was so exhilariting to throw yourself out there and have no idea what would happen. We need that, uncertainty brings stability.

You seem to be making soem pretty wide generalizations about 'ethical' people ... sort of out of context anyways. But I do not know of any organization or leader who endeavors to go out and find 'unethical' people.
'Today I will hire cheating, stealing, dishonest and lazy people to help us go in the right direction'
That to me seems to be a irreducible rascality in itself.

If I had a boss that used that word when looking to hire me, I would so work for him... wait a second, I've been duped. You hired me, then used it - you sick son of a dehoog!!!

What can I say, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

It might be useful to note that while ethics and direction may play a large role in certainty and or uncertainty, niether exist w/o said counterparts, goals and destination. No destination, no direction, no goals, no ethics to exercise in their pursuit.

Certain thought cultures would say that you must have goals and objectives to have ethics... this is an idealistic thought ... ethics can and should exist outside of preconceptualized objectives. If we are to live holistic lives then we must not stereotype ethics as dependant on 'said' counterparts
