One of the Church's largest dilemna's for the 21st century is not the learning of new ideas but its need to jettison and unlearn many of the processes that the last 500 years has established.
Thoughts on this matter.
1) It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC)
2) An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't.
Anatole France (1844 - 1924)
True /False. Agree Disagree???

I think we need to get on with things. Don't spend all your time jettisoning and no time doing. Move forward with what God has called you to do. Learn by making mistakes. That's not so bad.

I would agree if I could change the word "entertain" to "consider".

One of my favorite education quotes that I only ever paraphrase and am never able to remember who actually said it goes something like this:
Education only happens when we are put in the place where our only escape is to think.
Feel free to quote me on this.
As for the Aristotle quote, I think it's really hard to argue with that guy since his thoughts have been around for so long. Therefore, I can see what he's saying but there is another aspect. I think it's not so much about acceptance but bias. Before we entertain an idea we have a bias. That bias is not only for acceptance but also could be to reject an idea. So is it the mark of an educated man/woman to be aware of thier bias while entertaining an idea?
