Leadership

Sorry I have not posted in a while. Been travelling, friends weddings, holidays, camping etc.

I want to put a thought out there for you to consider:

A true leader has no need to lead [although may do so] a true leaders need is to point the way.

Thoughts?

Good thought Mark, I think people know where they want to go, they just don't know the way. Every group of people joins together, whether in a church, at school, a culture, a nation, because they have some things in common. They're together because something unifies them, and they wish to go to the same place. I think a leader points them to that place and walks along with them, helping them get there the best way possible. They know what they want...a leader just helps them get it.

I think you are talking about the needs of leaders and geoff is talking about the needs of followers.

If the question is, "what is the essential NEED of a LEADER"... and we can safely assume that leaders' needs are different from followers needs... then it follows that we need to ask ourselves, "why"?

Well, what we notice about leaders is that while they may enjoy people, they are willing to go it alone. Followers like to hang out with followers. So, why do leaders sometimes need to leave?

The answer lies in the ability to break away itself. For it is in this very objectivity that the leader sees what's needed.

Upon the return, the need of the leader is now to implement the vision of what is perceived as the need for the group goal that he or she has had while in withdrawal.

Make sense?
